A shark in choppy water

The Future of Eco Shark: An Uncertain Path Ahead

For the past three years, Eco Shark has been more than just a business—it has been a passion project dedicated to reducing plastic waste and helping people make more sustainable choices. I started Eco Shark with a clear and simple goal: to encourage people to choose eco-friendly products over plastic ones. Making money was always a hopeful bonus, but making a difference was the real mission.

Eco Shark has been successful in staying afloat these past three years, but to be completely transparent, the margins have always been tight. I’ve done my best to keep prices as affordable as possible because I know how tempting it is to grab a cheap plastic dish brush from the dollar store.

Unfortunately, the road ahead is uncertain. With upcoming tariffs and potential cross-border sales restrictions are going to significantly impact us. While I would love nothing more than to continue offering sustainable solutions to both Canadian and U.S. customers, as a small, one-person business, I also have to be realistic about the feasibility of staying in business with ridiculous tariffs and the inevitable corresponding increase in the cost of living.

But unfortunately, for now, my focus will shift to clearing out existing stock. While this isn’t the future I had envisioned for Eco Shark, I remain hopeful. Perhaps, in time, the landscape of e-commerce will stabilize, and I’ll be able to continue bringing sustainable solutions to as many people as possible.

I hope that everyone continues to make personal choices that consider those seven generations ahead, and that you continue to positively influence those around you to do the same.

No matter what happens next, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude. Your support, encouragement, and shared commitment to a healthier planet have meant everything. Eco Shark would not have been possible without you.

As for the future? I guess we'll see.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
