Typical sponges are made with plastic, and as they wear down with use, microplastics are released down the drain and into our water systems.

How to use and care for biodegradable sponges
Our compostable sponges can be used until they fall apart! Depending on how they're treated, you can expect a good 6 months out of each sponge.
After using your sponge, make sure to rinse it out to remove any food particles and allow it to air dry.
Your sponge will harden as it drys, which is great because bacteria thrives in moist conditions.
You have a few options for deep cleaning your sponge:
- Add to the top rack of your dishwasher
- Soak with water then microwave for 30 seconds
- Allow to sit in vinegar for 5 minutes, then rinse and air dry
