The easiest eco swap ever
Laundry Detergent - Tru Earth
Concentrated laundry strips are possibly our favourite eco swap, and that's saying a lot!
They'll be your new best friend too, because jugs of laundry detergent are heavy, messy, take up a lot of space, and are a pain in the butt to drag around. Laundry strips also reduce a bonkers amount of transportation related pollution compared to jugged liquid, so you can feel good knowing you've reduced your carbon footprint along with your counter space!
Tru Earth's laundry strips are:
- Paraben-free
- Phosphate-free
- Free of added dyes
- Free of chlorine bleach
- Free of 1,4-dioxane, as certified by independent laboratory tests
- Readily biodegradable in accordance with OECD 310D
- Hypoallergenic, certified by independent dermatologists
- Vegan: no animal-based ingredients or testing on animals by us or our ingredient suppliers
- Manufactured in Canada

Laundry detergent jugs are another example of gratuitous plastic waste. Given their size and shape most people aren't able to reuse them, and knowing that we only recycle 9% of our plastic, the majority of these jugs end up in a landfill.
The weight and size of transporting these jugs also contributes to a much larger carbon footprint compared to lightweight laundry strips. Using concentrated strips save roughly 94% of transportation related pollution.
Typical laundry detergents are also chock full of chemicals and fragrances that are washed down the drain and aren't biodegradable. Many are considered highly toxic to aquatic life and reap havoc on the environment.
All our laundry detergent strips are cruelty-free, made with plant-based, biodegradable ingredients, gentle on sensitive skin, and safe to use with septic systems.

How to use laundry detergent strips
How to use laundry detergent strips
1) One strip is good for one load of laundry. If your load is extra dirty, use a second strip. If you're hand washing, use a 1/4 - 1/2 strip.
2) For Top Load Washers - Place inside the washer at the bottom of the drum.
For Front Load Washers - put the strip in the dispenser try; tear it into pieces if needed
3) Add your clothes and use your regular settings.
Eco Pro Tip - Concentrated strips work for both hot and cold washes but remember - washing with cold water saves at least 40% energy and is more gentle on your clothing.
